Abstract: The objective of the Phase 1 and 2 SBIR Program, Topic N06-038, "MULTI-PURPOSE ANTENNA", (MPA), is the development, of a multi-function antenna that can condense the current very high frequency/ultra-high frequency (VHF/UHF) line-of-sight, UHF satellite communication, L-band and global positioning system (GPS) functions into a single airborne aperture for the E-2C,. Currently the E-2C is covered with antennas for VHF/UHF line of sight, UHF SATCOM, L Band and GPS functions. There is a firm need to condense some of these functions into a single antenna.
Benefits: An Ultra-wideband Antenna for aircraft, ships, vehicles(both military and commercial) would effectively reduce interference phenomena encountered in situations where high densities of conventional radiating elements are also required.
