| Abstract: |
Our innovative solution leverages existing commercial solid state drives (SSDs) and the flexibility offered by an FPGA-based solution to deliver an order of magnitude increase in data recording capability at an order of magnitude decrease in system cost, with a significant reduction in size, weight, and power (SWaP) requirements compared to existing systems. This solution follows Mustang's established and successful program paradigm of constructing advanced technologies to meet military requirements using primarily common, off-the-shelf (COTS) components. |
| Benefits: |
Data recording systems for tactical military scenarios are largely composed of proprietary hardware and software, leading to recording solutions with a high per unit cost, poor adaptability to new sensors, interfaces, and protocols, and a poor upgrade path because of the underlying proprietary hardware and software. Our solution changes this paradigm to offer an order of magnitude increase in performance for an order of magnitude reduction in cost. |
