Abstract: New, patented highly advanced thermo-chemical processing (LINTERPROCESST) and heat-treatment (LINHEATT) technologies were developed by SANOVA to address and solve metal and alloy performance deficiencies. Based on these innovative technologies, SANOVA has designed a treatment process which creates highly durable protective surface layers with strong mechanical properties on outer and inner surfaces of components made from various alloyed, high-strength and corrosion-resistive steels, as well as Ti, Zr and Nb alloys. SANOVA's LINTERPROCESST and LINHEATT technologies have a distinct advantage over traditional furnace-based treatment processes due to combination of specially formulated and applied highly effective active media and precise control of treatment parameters, and are able to produce desired microstructure and mechanical properties on the gear teeth and deep internal splines with aspect ratio as high as 5:1 and even higher. LINTERPROCESST and LINHEATT technologies are unique and highly effective, while simple to implement and maintain, environmentally friendly and cost-efficient. They employ effective high-frequency induction heating and high pressure of the active medium in working chamber to generate highest-quality results in shortest treatment durations.
Benefits: SANOVA is confident, that acceptance of this proposal will result in development of highly effective and easily commercialized custom treatment technology for carburizing of gear components made from various gear steels, with diameters from 4 to 44" and pinions with internal aspect ratio of 5:1, including the herringbone pinions, which cannot be effectively processed with existing heat treatment technologies and equipment. Desired microstructure and strong mechanical properties, including high hardness, high residual stresses and small grain size, will be achieved. There are significant and wide potential uses for this technology in commercial and military aviation, automotive, rail, medical devices and other industries. In addition, ease of implementation and considerable cost-effectiveness of SANOVA technology will result in dramatic cost savings in components and manufacturing processes worldwide, as significant process and operational efficiencies over the traditional furnace-based heat treatment technologies are realized. SANOVA's LINTERPROCESST and LIHEATT technologies are simple, inexpensive, while highly effective. They are completely user and environment-friendly and require far less space, maintenance and down time. Overall economic impact from wide acceptance of new SANOVA treatment technologies will be in $B's. Specific advantages of SANOAV treatment technologies are listed in the proposal body.
