The focus of process and product development has been transparent armor windows, as that market has the greatest potential value. Reconnaissance windows are a much more demanding application, in terms of optical and mechanical properties. TA&T will use this SBIR program to refine the manufacturing process for large-area reconnaissance windows with high strength and homogeneous optical characteristics. Benefits: Lessons learned may also lead to higher performance, lower cost transparent spinel plates for armor applications, which have both military and commercial importance. Return
