| Abstract: |
Broad band coherent sources have a number of applications including countermeasures and free-space communications. SA Photonics' Flash system provides a high power, >50W, broad spectrum solution with beam quality better than three times the diffraction limit. The Flash system uses a robust high repetition rate laser to achieve these results, with a small overall form factor. Further, techniques are employed which mitigate the low SRS and SBS limits set in a number of systems. The laser will be able to run continuously for much greater than 10 minutes with no degradation of beam quality or output power. The Flash system architecture requires minimal maintenance, has a long lifetime, and can be ruggedized for operation in a maritime environment. |
| Benefits: |
The main benefit of the SA Photonics Flash system is the abilitiy to provide a high quality, high power, broad spectrum source covering from the visible to the NIR, in a compact and robust platform. Our approach for using a fiber laser system to generate broad spectrum output brings the inherent benefits of high power fiber based lasers to high power broad spectrum delivery. Our Flash system will provide the high power, high beam quality broad spectrum output form a compact and robust system requiring minimal maintenance and having a long service lifetime. |
