Abstract: We propose a self-organized chaotic attractor based CMOS/Memristor circuit framework called Self-Evolvable-Logic-Fabric (SELF) for autonomous motor control. We propose to demonstrate SELF's ability to spontaneously evolve algorithmic pathways to control a robotic arm to catch a ball utilizing visual and proprioceptive feedback while varying parameters that increase the complexity and difficulty of the task.
Benefits: The primary anticipated befit of our project is the demonstration that chaotic attractor based circuits for autonomous motor control is possible with existing and emerging technology, thus opening up development of generic robotic controllers for land, air, sea and virtual environment. Potential applications for the technology includes autonomous robotic controllers, self-healing circuitry, data fusion, pattern recognition/classification, sense making and real-time constraint solvers.
