Abstract: Progeny Systems will design an architecture for a recording, playback and reconstruction system to meet Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) requirements. The system will employ data agnostic interfaces to record heterogeneous data with a scalable and modular architecture to support mission reconstruction and data analysis. Investigation will evaluate open source formats to employ for standardized data collections. The design will include centralized, modular storage and COTS hardware for data storage, retrieval, and off hull media generation. The design will provide data access to support system-wide data playback, reconstruction, onboard data mining and training enhancing the effectiveness of the LCS combat systems.
Benefits: This data agnostic, scalable recording architecture can be used to meet the recording requirements for a variety of military and commercial programs that benefit by reduced development costs and risk, COTS technology insertion, and flexibility in data formats and media. The concepts for data mining, playback and reconstruction can be leveraged to suit individual program requirements.
