Abstract: AdValue Photonics propose a novel single-frequency fiber laser that will be able to deliver high-power, narrow-linewidth, shot-noise-limited laser beam at 1550nm for high-end RF photonics applications. It is based on AdValue Photonics' unique high gain fiber technology. By the end of Phase I, we will demonstrate the feasibility of the concept, i.e., the capability of delivering a fiber laser with 100mW output power, 1kHz linewidth, and shot-noise-limited laser beam at 1550nm.
Benefits: Single-frequency lasers in the C-band have been widely used on the existing market for telecom and fiber optic sensing applications. However, compact high-power low-noise lasers (particularly shot-noise-limit in the GHz range) are still missing for RF photonics applications, which is a rapidly-growing emerging market. Our proposed technology will make it possible to commercialize the first kind of such a laser at low-cost for the emerging market. The laser can also be very useful for high-end fiber optic sensing application.
