Abstract: The system proposed for development herein is a progression of the RPA automated alignment system for immersive display systems. The system was designed to provide absolute accurate measurements to produce highly repeatable display alignment results. Options are proposed to add new features and measurement capabilities to support fully automated display systems verification to specifications. This solution would provide an adaptable, accurate, repeatable, and verifiable measurement system that supports both real image and collimated display systems. New software can repurpose the alignment platform hardware to provide measurement information in user friendly formats that can be viewed or exported for use by other software programs to perform analytics. Display system environment modeling is provided to allow operators to efficiently design test environments, sequences, and expected results. The development of this project would provide a single system that replaces many individual instruments requiring long intervals of manual testing, saving time and resources.
Benefits: The visual measurement system proposed herein would add to RPA's visual product line, building upon developments of our automated alignment solution, currently in production and sold worldwide. We expect to find customers in the DoD, overseas friendly military communities, and within the growing commercial training marketplace, as the volume of full flight training simulators is growing due to the high volume of passenger aircraft currently on order with aircraft manufacturers. Pursuit of applications in large entertainment display systems will also be evaluated.
