Abstract: |
Military flight simulators have come a long way from the early "Blue Box" simulators invented by Edwin Link. Performance and realism have increased dramatically, but along with that increase in performance comes complexity of the simulator system and its components along with how to test them.
SA Photonics is pleased to propose a display system performance analyzer (DSPA) that provides a number of advantages including the ability to test both the system as well as its components in an automated manner. The DSPA consists of a mechanical system to position the measurement head anywhere in a 6" radius about the design eye, a pan and tilt unit, and a set of cameras and sensors a stage. The camera is a combination high speed/high resolution camera and the sensor is a combination colorimeter/photometer. Other sensors can be substituted into the system as required; however we believe we can accomplish all the major tests of a simulator system and its components with just these two sensors. Coupled with this display hardware, we will also propose a set of standardized tests for training display systems and we will design a method to ship and setup the system easily. |
