Abstract: The proposed work extends ongoing RDRTec maritime classification aids (MCA) and feature-aided tracking development activities that utilize high range resolution (HRR) and inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) by adding combined feature vectors consisting of the hard body, water wake, air wake, vibration, and rotator features, combined with the estimated vessel activities and behavior. Feasibility of implementing this approach with legacy Navy maritime surveillance radar systems such as the APS-153, APY-10, and AN/ZPY-4 to dramatically improve maritime situational awareness will be assessed.
Benefits: A successful Phase 1 and Phase 2 will lead to dramatic improvements of maritime situational awareness with legacy Navy maritime surveillance radar systems such as the APS-153, APY-10, and AN/ZPY-4.
