Abstract: |
In this program, we see a unique and immense opportunity to utilize our novel, semiconductor based technology to develop a low insertion loss, low drive voltage, high bandwidth, manufacturable, rugged and uncooled Indium Phosphide semiconductor based dual output modulator device and module, which will bring unprecedented reduction in cost, size, weight and power consumption. This semiconductor fabrication platform, capable of meeting the requirements of this program, is currently being transferred into manufacturing by Freedom Photonics. This work will additionally leverage our commercial advanced transmitter, receiver and packaging technologies, as well as our expertise in small form factor modules, to deliver an innovative solution that can meet the needs of this program, and be quickly transitioned and deployed in the Navy, other defense and commercial markets. |
Benefits: |
Potential defense markets under consideration are Radar systems, Electronic warfare systems, Fiber-optic communications systems on naval, air and ground defense platforms. Potential civilian markets are Fiber-optic telecommunications and data communications networks, and High speed communications within a vehicle, such as airplane, ship or train. |
