Abstract: K2 Energy Solutions already produces a line of high power cylindrical cells that have found use in a number of Navy pulse power applications. We will adapt this existing cylindrical cell lithium iron phosphate technology to design and fabricate a large, 25Ah, hard-cased prismatic cell capable of matching or exceeding the high power capabilities and long calendar and cycle life achievable in small cylindrical cells.
Benefits: The large prismatic cells to be developed in this project will find application in a broad range of commercial applications, including hybrid electric vehicles, large vehicle starter batteries, and battery back-up systems.
