Abstract: |
Aret proposes a rugged, compact, and efficient high-power ultraviolet (UV) sources which will have critical benefits for naval air platforms. The proposed laser will be capable of operating in 320 - 355 nm spectral region, achieve > 5W of optical power with excellent beam-quality (M2 10% wall-plug efficiency. Our approach adds key innovations to proven technology to afford a solution that is rugged and facilitates cost-effective manufacture. |
Benefits: |
Many of the laser products Aret has developed under various SBIR programs have become cornerstones of Aret product sales. SBIR funding has made it possible to solve technical challenges in compact laser development and give Aret an edge over the competition. True to the vision of the SBIR program, the technologies and products we have developed and demonstrated therein have also spawned new R&D work and custom laser development funded by other government programs and the private sector, truly creating entirely new areas of business which are self-sustaining and poised for rapid growth. Particular commercial areas which are expected to benefit from the development of the technology herein are: Aircraft protection; Advanced chemicals sensors based on Raman spectroscopy; Remote detection of bio and chem compounds; other LIDAR and remote sensing; High precision materials processing; Real time medical diagnostics; and compact atomic clocks for timing and Navigation. |
