Abstract: This project will focus on the combination of high performance, reconfigurable microwave and millimeter wave filters, and advances spectrum sensing hardware to produce a digital radar warning receiver capable of operating in a dense RF pulse environment. The reconfigurable microwave filters will allow the sensitive receiver to operate in the presence of large signals while maintaining the sensitivity required for small signal reception and identification. The wideband receiver will be capable of commanding a set-on receiver with increased dynamic range to simultaneously sense and identify large and small signals in and instantaneous bandwidth up to 1 GHz. The wideband receiver and re-configurable filter bank will operate in the 0.25 to 40 GHz microwave and millimeter wave region. Additionally, the pulse descriptive word output of the radar waning receiver will be made available to other systems via a high speed Gigabit Ethernet connection.
Benefits: Anticipated benefits include a blocker tolerant RF digitizer design with increased sensitivity and linearity, capable of operation in dense RF environments. Commercial applications could include co-site interference mitigation solutions and applications in test and measurement products.
