Abstract: The Coordinated USW Planning Application (CUPA) provides a suite of data interfaces, algorithms and display services to support the assisted planning, briefing, execution, and assessment of USW plans. Geographic and temporal information are linked and presented in animated 3D views for visual analysis. CUPA assists the user in environmental analysis, and speeds ASW plan assessment using innovative algorithms to reduce computational needs.
Benefits: Using the CUPA architecture, displays, and algorithms, USW planners will transform their role from data transcription and verification across multiple stove-piped systems, to a role of developing effective plans while the algorithms and services support them. This will significantly reduce the time required to generate plans, increase the effectiveness of plans, and improve the communication of Commander's Intent across echelons and between platforms. CUPA's commercial application is directly related to work in law enforcement and emergency management operational planning and analysis - viewing multiple data feeds and algorithms in an animated 3D view, and planning the deployment of assets in response.
