Abstract: |
A novel method for lithographic "printing" of low cost, high performance RFID tags and flexible electronics will be investigated using low cost roll-to-roll processing based on a substrate transfer process, followed by simultaneous exposure of single or multi-layer wavelength sensitive resist compositions. The innovative technique eliminates multiple steps in conventional lithography while eliminating registration and alignment issues.
The technique allows use of conventional inorganic materials and recipes for realizing higher performing electronics at higher temperatures, further avoiding all the problems and shortcomings of organic materials applied to realizing electronic circuits on flexible substrates. |
Benefits: |
Low cost roll-to-roll (R2R) processing of higher performance TFTs on flexible substrates enables not only low cost, high performance RFIDs at higher frequency for commercial and military applications, but will enable high performance flexible displays with integrated drive electronics, as well as potential "Systems-on-panel," or System LCDs, or even "Computer-on-glass" type applications. Large area X-Ray imaging, conformal sensor arrays and myriad other applications become possible and compelling. |
