The effect of the spark would also transmit through the housing of the RPG to detonate the explosive itself. In addition, the RF generated by the directionalized plasma field could be enough to resonate the piezo-electric crystals sufficiently to pre-detonate the device well before it came within spark range. The ability to use a directed-energy approach like this would create a virtual "force field" around US assets in RPG-rich environments. Benefits: Such an RPG shield could be deployed around American government and corporate assets both domestically and internationally, in an increasingly volatile world, to protect them from the RPG, the "terrorist's choice" weapon.
