| Abstract: |
Airborne radar systems face an array of difficulties in detection and estimation of targets in the presence of clutter and other forms of interference. The work proposed for this STTR will focus on advancement and application of robust, innovative methods that improve Space-Time Adaptive Processing (STAP) for airborne radar |
| Benefits: |
The defense market has numerous radar and communications systems, both new and legacy that need improved, robust techniques for detection, estimation and communications. Those systems that currently employ STAP are not likely to employ the new more robust techniques and those that do not employ STAP may benefit greatly from application of STAP principles even when the system was designed with only a few degrees-of-freedom. Migrating some of the more efficient, robust algorithms to commercial systems in mobile comms, wireless and medical applications opens up large potential markets. |
