Abstract: Qualtech Systems, Inc. (QSI) proposes to leverage experience gained in developing knowledge-model-based inference and reasoning software tools to investigate the architectural, algorithmic, and implementation issues involved in developing a decision support technology for aircraft fleet management. In response to the needs of this program, the development of the asset management solution will focus on supporting the propulsion system of the Joint Strike Fighter and/or other military aircraft engines. In Phase I, we will explore alternative reasoning methods applicable to one or more fleet management activities, and define the interface and presentation/visualization requirements. Detailed requirements and software design specifications developed during the Phase I Option period will be utilized for tool development in Phase II.
Benefits: The proposed reasoning technology could be applied to any enterprise asset management (EAM) program, such as for commercial aircraft, ground delivery vehicles, and rental car fleets. In addition, it could benefit OEM customer support of globally distributed high-value, high-assurance equipment such as manufacturing machinery and medical diagnostic equipment.
