Abstract: Kennon Aircraft Covers proposes to develop a new cabin insulation system for the V-22 Osprey. The system will be comprised of easy-to-install, adjustable, non-damaging airframe attachment anchors; lightweight, semi-rigid, radiant barrier insulation panels; and adjustable attachment devices to secure the panels to the anchors. The system will improve thermal and sound insulation performance, provide improved fit and function, be resistant to abrasion, liquids, chemicals, and be easy to install and remove as necessary. The system also has the capability of incorporating ballistic protection as a future, or Phase I Option.
Benefits: Improved insulation qualities, robust and reliable, easy to install and work with, lightweight, and amenable to ballistic and fragment barrier capabilities. Commercial applications beyond the V-22 program include other military aircraft, and commercial cargo aircraft.
