Abstract: RDRTec proposes to develop, compare, and test innovative techniques that will provide robust adaptive ISAR classification tools to assist the radar operator's rapid and accurate classification of ships and small boats in the littoral. This includes variation within specific classes. The final goal is a cost effective insertion into present and future fielded systems. Different core classification algorithms that will be evaluated for performance and their ability to be implemented into present and future fielded systems. These include principal and independent component analysis, support vector machines and neural networks.
Benefits: A higher performing and richer set of tools to assist ISAR target classification would increase the performance of correct classification of ships and small boats in the littoral and assist operators with less experience.
