Abstract: |
Syntonics proposes to investigate the feasibility of applying its recent invention to create an X-to-Ka band conformal satcom antenna system that is frequency-agile, pointing-agile, polarization-agile, and affordable: the pixel-addressable reconfigurable conformal antenna (PARCA). The PARCA concept is highly suitable for this Navy application, which also has tight SWAP constraints and needs agility in frequency and beam pointing. PARCA uses conductive pixels that can be turned "on" or "off" to rapidly reconfigure a patch array's operating frequency(ies), aperture gain(s), beam pointing direction(s), and beam polarization(s). |
Benefits: |
The initial market for a PARCA-based high-frequency satcom antenna system is substantial, as the market for airborne satcom is large both in the U.S. and with allied militaries. However, the PARCA technology will also be compelling in other military applications than need a thin, flat-plate array that provides agility in frequency, gain, steering, and polarization. For example, terrestrial "satcom on the move" is a major market by itself. We can market PARCA technology to all these markets. |
