Abstract: |
Progeny Systems proposes to provide an effective and fun equipment maintenance training game through the innovative application of brain wave monitoring technology and Edutainment methodologies. Progeny Systems' innovation will utilize current and planned Marine Corps TETS and Huntron operation procedures for performing Intermediate level LRU troubleshooting as the basis for an addictive and highly entertaining puzzle style game. Puzzle difficulty will be adjusted based off of a learner's cognitive ability as measured in real time using Play Attention's Play Attention Professional brain wave monitoring system. |
Benefits: |
Progeny Systems' proposed innovation provides the Marines with effective interactive maintenance training based on a learner's mental state. The innovation has significant worth outside the current sponsor's organization and to other current DoD organizations. Through Phase I and Phase II of the proposed innovation, Progeny Systems will work with the sponsor as well as current Navy and DoD customers to bring the potential and realized benefits to bear across a wide spectrum of problems. With employee training costs soaring in all fields and employee turn-over becoming an increasing problem, organizations are looking for reusable inexpensive methods to provide effective and up to date training. New training tools need to be easily understood and interesting for the trainee to retain the knowledge. Since most of the new entrants to the work force are familiar with video games, utilizing video game technology for training can rapidly introduce trainees to the material in an interesting manner. Coupling the game with an ability to monitor the trainee's level of interest will allow the training administrators to adjust the training for the best results as measured by data retention. As training with brain wave monitoring technology matures it will find a place in virtually every field. |
