Abstract: |
EOSPACE will study the development of a Linearized Wideband Fiber Optic Transmitter for use in High Dynamic Range Analog Fiber Optic Links. The transmitter will consists of a unique EOSPACE wideband, linearized modulator integrated with a high power CW laser. A new packaging approach will offer record performance capabilities, while allowing fiber optic distribution networks to offer a twofold reduction in size, weight, cross-section, and power consumption in Navy Aerospace systems, with much less susceptibility to EMI effects. |
Benefits: |
The development of a Linearized Wideband Fiber Optic Transmitter will allow for higher dynamic range in high performance Navy Electronic Warfare (EW), Sensor, Radar, and Communication systems. Their use with fiber optic distribution networks will contribute to a twofold reduction in the size, weight, power consumption, and cross-section as compared to present RF distribution networks. These RF-Photonic modules can also be used in other commercial/military systems that require the distribution of High Dynamic Range RF and microwave signals over fiber optic channels. These systems are as diverse as Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI), RF-on-Fiber, Radar Range Test Fields, Phased Array Radar, EW Sensors, and Antenna Remoting applications. |
