Specifically, in the Phase I program we will 1. Determine the product structure and material property information needed by LEAPS. 2. Create a reference data library that contains this information using the semantics of the Ship STEP AP's. 3. Define the source systems for this information at Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding and Electric Boat. 4. Develop a PLCS DEX that contains the reference data 5. Prove the feasibility of the DEX bi-directional data transfer using Eurostep's share-a-space software tools. In the Phase I Option, we will continue to design the interfaces to LEAPS and the shipbuilder IT systems that will be developed and prototyped in Phase II. Benefits: The benefit of this approach is that it will quickly enable flexible interoperability for the Navy with shipbuilders regarding non-geometric product model data, while leveraging the investment in the semantics of the Ship STEP AP's. This will reduce the cost, time, and risk of developing Navy ships. The proposed approach is compatible with future potential improvements such as the Ship Common Information Model, and modularization of the Ship STEP AP's. Return
