Abstract: |
Development of the Patrol Aircraft Monitoring System will provide the ability to develop an individual aircraft corrosion tracking and repair schema that will utilize the results from the most recent aircraft inspections, predictive algorithms, and effective graphical interfaces to determine the most effective maintenance activities for an individual aircraft based on inspection results (corrosion damage, its severity and location) and the likelihood of future corrosion damage considering likely basing, deployments, and operational requirements. |
Benefits: |
Upon successful completion of Phase II, C2 Technology, Inc will have developed and fielded a successful tool that provides maintenance managers at all levels with an effective method of economically countering the effects of corrosion on the P-3 fleet through effective tracking, predicting, and scheduling of corrosion maintenance on individual aircraft. Rather than relying solely or principally on experimental data, the algorithms employed will all rely on measured effects on actual metal samples of the types of materials actually used in aircraft construction. Further, the algorithms employed will employ a database consisting of actual structural data from P-3 aircraft coupled with, where available, FMEA and structural integrity studies from that aircraft. |
