Abstract: |
AVID proposes to develop software that determines takeoff and landing operational parameters for advanced military aircraft which result in trajectories that reduce noise in populated areas surrounding military airfields. This software will utilize GIS technologies to make teh analysis site-specific for a given airfield. Gradient method and genetic swarm optimization methodologies will be employeed to determine the set of operational parameters which reduce a cost function based on perceived noise level at observer stations on the ground. |
Benefits: |
This work will result in a new commercial software capable of optimizing operational parameters to reduce the noise from military aircraft in area that surround military airfields. The work will also improve the trajectory and noise source methods in AVID''s conceptual aircraft design software, ACS. These improvements will give ACS a significant competitive advantage. |
