Abstract: The SA Photonics SAINS-400 inertial navigation system will provide astonishing drift performance of <0.5nmi/hr. This is possible by combining multiple inertial sensor technologies with proven compact SA Photonics Fiber Optic Gyros (FOG) and a state of the art CPU design. SA Photonics gyros are smaller and far more cost effective when compared to other high performance FOGs, and offer orders of magnitude better performance than MEMs based gyros. The SA Photonics SAINS-400 system will provide the cost savings, accuracy, and durability needed for surface vehicles and small boats in harsh sea environments.
Benefits: There are multiple benefits to the NAVY in having SAINS-400 systems aboard manned and unmanned sea vehicles: 1) Very low drift Fiber Gyro Technology at <0.5nmi/hr, 2) Cost effective FOG technology, 3) Multiple sensor IMU technology for minimizing and correcting system error, 4) Minimal reliance on GPS input, 5) Rugged weatherized design for dust tight and water tight operation, 6) Minimal component design
