| Abstract: |
The overall objective of this proposal is to develop an energy harvesting system that can provide a significant contribution to the on-board power system of a lightweight unmanned watercraft without human intervention. This system would be used to extend the range and duration of the vessel by reducing the fuel requirement. In phase I, the feasibility of such a system will be determined and a conceptual design will be developed. Phase II will provide for the construction of a "proof of concept" prototype. |
| Benefits: |
If successful, the energy harvesting system developed will greatly increase the potential of USVs by substantially extending the mission range of lightweight unmanned watercraft for the warfighter. This will allow for additional mission capabilities and help reduce total ownership costs associated with USVs. |
