| Abstract: |
We propose a comprehensive numerical-simulation study of several techniques that promise to reduce the impact of thermal blooming on the energy deposition that is achievable with a high-energy laser in a near-sea-level maritime environment. |
| Benefits: |
Benefits to the Navy: increased effectivenes or reduced power requirements for proposed high-energy laser weapons.
Potential commercial benefits: application of some of the smae techniques to improved laser communications performance. |
