Abstract: It is desirable in this era to want to pass as much data as possible to as many users as possible. To this end fiber optic cable is a natural selection due to its extremely wide bandwidth and the very low insertion loss. Of course this is no surprise since the backbone of the telecommunications infrastructure is composed of fiber optic cable.
Benefits: This product will significantly reduce the amount of time an optical data network is down and when failures occur the amount of time locating and fixing the problems will be greatly reduced over methods available today. The commercial applications for the product extend to any service/content providers that use optical fiber as a transmission medium. This includes telephone, internet, and cable television industries.
