Abstract: SA Photonics proposes the development of the NeptuneLITE free space optical communication system for aircraft interrogation of sonobuoy fields. NeptuneLIITE enables high data rate (>1 Mb/s) at long range (>40 nautical miles) in a compact form factor with very low cost per sonobuoy.
Benefits: NeptuneLITE leverages SA Photonics wide range of free space optical programs including: underwater lasercom, on-the-move free space optical communication between UAVs and ground vehicles, satellite to UAV, and nanosat to nanosat free space optical communication. Leveraging our internal free space optical communication programs gives the Navy the benefit of achieving a compact high performance prototype in Phase II that will be the basis for Phase III field transition.
