The following is a proposal to investigate the feasibility of a compact, high power, single mode, low noise and narrow linewidth 1550nm fiber laser based on Orbits Lightwave, Inc."virtual ring" and slow-light laser technologies. |
| Benefits: |
A compact and ruggedized 1550 nm laser can find potential Dual use applications in acoustic sensors. Other Defense applications include Microwave Photonics , coherent free space communications, coherent LIDAR and QPSK. These and other DoD applications can benefit from further development of a more compact laser technology, especially for multi-channel and air-borne systems that require smaller foot print and even more ruggedized device. |
