Abstract: Invocon proposes its Lithium-Ion Smart Rechargeable Battery technology as the basis for developing a reliable, safe, robust Battery Management System (BMS). This technology offers an ever vigilant BMS that helps to optimize battery performance, reduce charging cycle time, and increase battery safety during both charging and discharging. The system will be modified to provide additional options such as pressure, humidity, and salt fog detection. Standard interfaces will help to reduce design, manufacturing, and maintenance costs.
Benefits: Smart rechargeable batteries have application in many types of military and civilian platforms. Furthermore, high-capacity batteries with standard structural, thermal, and electrical interfaces have application throughout the aircraft industry. U.S. Navy aircraft are the initial target application. However, other military and civilian aircraft will also benefit from the reduced design and recurring costs afforded by standard configurations. This battery technology is already being used on rocket launch vehicles and payloads. As with the existing rocket applications, aircraft application of this battery technology will benefit from reduced costs offered by standard (yet robust and flexible) interfaces.
